We did a video chat with my parents last night. My wife and daughter on the invasion of privacy (Facebook Portal) talking to my mom , and my father and I on the pocket sized invasion of privacy . H e and I were chatting cars, duh... and he was bringing up some of the 20's LandYachts Dusenberg/LaSalle etc. I explained that those cars did little for me and that 1920's Tripper would be rolling something along the lines of a slammed modded up Model T. As I began to describe what it might look like both of our eyes got wide as we thought of the same car at the same time. I’m pretty sure I posted it on here when it listed, or one of you all did. It took me a while to dig it up, but...

Kinja'd!!!

Really neat story/impressive work behind this car too.

Also this sweet ass car that we remembered while trying to find the one above

“FUCK! that thing is NASTY!”, I exclaimed as the image rendered

“Super fucking nice!” says he.

“GUYS!?” say my wife and mother

“FUCK!!!” says my 1.5 year old

3 people laugh 2 people are irritated, I won’t tell you who is who.

After that incident settled , I said “ya know, I think a car like that is going on the official list”

I know we all have a bunch of dream cars at different levels, but after I bought the 02 I wrote out a real list and I keep it in my desk drawer at work. What I’m saying is that a Model T speedster is going on that list. Mine will be a project like this one was originally, but I’m keeping my eyes open for them.

Too bad I can’t get to the list right now, I feel like it will increase my chances of finding one one that I can afford pieces of one that I can afford, when I can actually put pen to paper.

There are other, and I have owned some other that were also technically “dream cars” , but these are the “I will own one at some point, there is no doubt I will make it happen and I probably won’t ever let them go unless its to get another on the list ” cars. Or unless they happen to treat me like my E90 did.

Kinja'd!!!

Just so were clear when I say Alfa GTV I mean the below, not the newer/boxier ones.

Kinja'd!!!

So Oppo, what vehicles are on your HARD COPY list.

I don’t keep any list, but if I was going to name attainable cars that I’d like to eventually own, I’d go with a ‘46/47/48 Chrysler with the flathead 6 and Fluid Drive, that Pao I almost bought, a Shay Model A, maybe a late Reliant Regal, and I’d like to have another Beetle at some point (this time standard, not Super).

Any corvette C4 or newer. They were one of my first favorite cars since I was 7. (C4's are so cheap that if I had the space I’d probably just go get one by trading a few gum balls. )

I’d love to have a MK3 Supra turbo again, but without a laundry list of problems this time.

Lotus Evora always seems interesting to me. It’s kinda different, and right in that price range where you can go “hmm, Mayyybbeee”.

And a bunch of other “those would be neat!” cars that are well within reasonable reach.  But honestly a Corvette is the only one that has always held a spot for me.

The Chrysler is gangster. I would love to see a Pao in person one of these days.

I’ve really come around to the early speedsters/roadsters the last couple years too, especially the aero engined ones. Here are a couple solid facebook groups for that sort of thing to give you ideas.

Also a reminder that Speedway motors can get you started with frame and body kits and full suspension/brake kits.

I never really think I like corvette’s that much, but then... . My mom has a C5 (non Z06 , headers back, and a short shifter). I took my wife for a ride in it last summer. She says after I have just mashed on it, “I love seeing you smile like that, are you sure you don’t want one of these?”

They are unbelievably easy and comfortable to drive. If they weren’t so low with such a big nose, I don’t think there is a better daily driver for a hardened car guy/girl.

Lucky for you people buy Corvette’s then never drive them. My mom picked up her 2000 C5 with less than 20k on the clock for something like 18k! Like you said you can have a C4 for peanuts.

My list includes a split window Stingray, an ND Miata, and a Maserati Gran Cabrio.  I should specify that this is not a list of things I will get, but rather a dream list.  I project that I will only buy a couple more cars in my lifetime, and I may or may not have the disposable income to make any of them impractical toys.  The Miata is the most likely to actually get purchased.

Nice 60s GTVs and Ferrari F355s are trading at roughly the same price brackets right now...at least before the world went on lockdown.

My father had a 64 corvette, not a split window or anything but he bought it himself, blew it up himself, and replaced the engine himself. I’m bummed that not a single picture of it exists. I would go home with the first miata that falls into my lap even though one isn’t on the list.

It’s sad that you never got to drive it!

I test drove an ND and fell in love with the little convertible idea.  I should say I was predisposed ever since I was little.  My dad drove an MGB.

4-5 years ago I started thinking that maybe I’d go after an Alfa instead of the 02 because I saw one “decent driver” go around 25k... Never saw anything like that again...

I’ll sometimes go back to your posts about your 355 to be like, yeah I can do it! Haha.

I’m higher on the 355 as the Alfa to me is an prettier, Italian, more expensive 2002, and I’ve already got the 02. A good friend of mine buys and sells used exotics and keeps an eye out for me but the ones he gets are always too nice and the ones he does not buy he won’t tell me about because “he won’t be the catalyst in my divorce proceedings”.

Neither one is realistic for me until I’ve ticked the 997 box anyway

I don’t keep a list.

Partially because my next dream car tends to change from time to time, and partially because I know most of my dream cars will forever remain out of my price range.

I fell in love with the ‘69 Mach 1 in highschool, and they’re currently priced at twice the price of the most expensive car I have ever purchased. Even replica Shelby Cobras are too expensive. That’s just too depressing to be reminded about .

Was it NA or NB that had the “finger slot” door handles. I woman at my fathers office had one when I was 10 or so. It was green and it kicked off my love of small green cars.

Haha well yeah there are those. If I were to come into BIG money, the 80k mile 997 I will eventually buy would turn into a 0k mile Singer 911.

I’d also like a re-do with a blob eye STi. I bought one when I was far to immature for a car like that (19-20) , had it for six months, got a bunch of tickets and hit a deer...

Hard Copy List:

TVR Tuscan mk1 S

Austin Healey 100/6 BN6 (with works modifications)

Noble M12 GTO

Holden Maloo

Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1 (or as close to that as I could build if I can’t afford one )

Alfa Romeo Spider 1750 Spider Veloce (68 or 69)

For fucks sake what a list!!!

The tuscan is a favorite of mine thanks “Swordfish”. I just doubt that I’ll ever get one because they’re not cheap + import + they need to be 25 years old.

The local 02 guru has a Healy 100-6 I got to sit in it

The rest are also great but I always forget about the Tuscan

I don’t know, honestly.  Green is the correct color though.

I have been noticing that a 996 is within reach, if I’m willing to save up to make it happen. I’d love to get a taste of the 911 experience, but I’m not sure it’s worth the cost just to see if I like it. (Also, eastern Nebraska doesn’t seem to have many roads that a Porsche would enjoy.)

But I hear you on the highschool/college car redo. I had a ‘86 GT Mustang during those years, and I’m still trying to find a car that was as fun as that car was for me back then. Maybe I’ll just have to get another Foxbody before they start climbing in price.

I will take that as a compliment.

I love the Tuscan. I am a huge TVR fan, but the mk1 S is the best thing ever. I got to ride in one on some twisties hard when in Europe. Only made me want one more. They really aren’t too expensive for what they are and I will wait till they are 25 or move to Europe xD.

That happy feeling pretty similar to how I felt basically every time I’ve been in a Corvette. First time I rode in one was at a college Autocross. Just a standard C5, but holy crap did it live up to expectations.

Then I got to drive a C6, and was cackling like a maniac after my first on-ramp.

Then for my honeymoon we rented a C7, and it was just perfect. So normal and comfortable cruising highways, but just stupid quick when you dared to let it play. Only downside was it’s so fast that the opportunities to really feel safe playing with it are few and far between.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I get one at some point after we have a new house with more parking space.

Ive had dd 72 GTV, 81 GTV6, 87 Milano. Would love to get my Fiat 850 back on the road. Im not a German car fanboy overall, though I was shopping late 80s-early 90s SELs when my first kid born in '03. That said, if the Fiat is a blast with no power hanging off its ass, Ill go any rear engine Porsche, otherwise a 928 is pure sex, and I'd def roll a two-door Opel Kadett wagon as well! Another 1st gen CRX si would be nice, as would a mailaise Corvette, Firebird, or Camaro. Im shooting low going with what I think I could actually afford. (Will never be able to afford another GTV. I paid 1200 for mine)

Nice 02s are also trading for insane money, like Mk4 Supras and ITRs that are now Bro status .
